We’re quickly approaching the time of year when we’re saying goodbye to all of the trends that won our hearts this season, and hello to all things new (ok, much more like hair trends that are renewed, revived and revamped). However, there are some looks from the past season that we plan to hold onto, like the beloved medium hair and bangs trend, a.k.a. lobs and long bobs with some fringe.

Medium Hair and Bangs: Styles to Inspire

For the new season, we’re marrying the two—we love them both and how could we not? Read on to check out some of our favorite medium hair and bang combos to copy this year:

1. The Lob and Bang

So far, this has certainly been the year of the lob hairstyle. We definitely don’t see the lob trend going anywhere anytime soon especially for those who have resolved to grow out their short haircuts. If you’re one of those gals and need a little update while handling the growing out process, handle it in style by adding a chic fringe to match.

2. Braids on Medium Hair with Side Bangs

The beauty of bangs: you don’t have to stick to one direction when it comes to styling. The beauty of medium length hair: It’s long enough to style into braids, updos and more. Combine the two and have fun with different braided hairstyle variations. Try your hand at a look like this with one of these braid ideas.

3. Bangs on Medium Length Curly Hair

Sometimes it’s okay to break the rules. Many hairstylists talk curly hair types into staying away from bangs because the texture of your hair makes it quite difficult to maintain and style them. This isn’t a hard rule: If you want a fringe, get one! Pair up your wash-and-go style and curly updos with a bold fringe. If you want to mix and match, opt for giving your fringe a pass with a flat iron to make it straight. Give your curls an extra dose of bounce and hydration by washing them with SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner.

4. Baby Fringe and Pony

The power of the ponytail and a micro fringe! We all have those days when we just want to pull our hair up, with the help of some super stylish micro bang action, the look turns the ordinary ponytail hairstyle up a notch.

5. Wispy Fringe with a Half-Updo

They say thin and fine hair types should stay away from bangs but we say where there is a will there is a way. Fine hair types can totally try their hand at some fringe action with wispy bangs. On medium hair, style your fringe with another trendy ‘do like this half-up hairstyle.

6. Full Bangs

Add some instant volume to your style by pairing your medium cut with a full set of bangs. Beware that opting for bangs means committing to a bit more of a strict styling routine. Have a flat iron on hand to style them to perfection!

7. Brushed Out

Achieve some major volume by curling your natural hair and then gently brushing it out. This look commands attention and is incredibly chic–what’s not to love? We can’t get enough of this chic and voluminous style.

8. Air Dried

Easy, breezy, let that hair air dry! Embrace your natural texture and let your strands air dry. Add a like more somethin’ somethin’ by running Suave Simply Styled Flexible Definition Wave Mousse through your strands before you air dry!

9. Faux Bangs

If you’re not feeling a full on commitment to medium hair and bangs, why not fake the style? Create a subtle yet deep side part and position the hair slightly over your forehead to create the illusion of bangs.

10. Add a Beanie

Put your bangs front and center with an attention-grabbing beanie. A beanie will push down your bangs to change the way they frame your face and make them much more apparent. Looking for more hair inspiration? Follow us over @AllThingsHairUS!
