Sleek Hair: How to Wear This Springy Trend
1. Straight Hair Blowout
First and foremost, you’ve got to get that sleek hair, right? You can get straight, silky hair in several different ways. You can read up on how to achieve pin-straight hair with a flat iron, or go our current favorite route with an at-home blowout. Then, make sure to use a paddle brush when drying your hair to get the straight effect.
2. Straight Yet Textured
If you don’t want to go for the totally silky look but still want to rock a straight-hair blowout, we have a couple of modifications. First step: Switch up your products. Then, roughly blow-dry your hair until it’s around 80% dry before grabbing a large, round brush. Use the brush with your blowdryer to finish drying your hair to that sleek (but voluminous) finish.
3. Nourishing Half-Updo
You know those days where your hair is feeling crispy, and you need some extra moisture, stat? On those days, we like to do a hair oil mask. But, if leaving the house is also required that day, we recommend making it into a statement style. We’re loving this two-layer half updo. We’re totally into that super-sleek, slicked-back look, but we know a lot of people wouldn’t wear that for day-to-day life. Instead, try this super-thick voluminous look. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to get volume out of thin, straight hair. We recommend breaking out that teasing comb and getting to work!
5. Wispy Straight Hair
The windswept hair trend totally works for sleek hair, too. We’re loving how it takes what could be a fancy hairstyle down to a more casual level. We suggest starting off with our windswept hair tutorial. Then, get this chic half updo by combing your hair forwards, starting from the crown of your head. With the section you combed forwards, style your hair to drape across your forehead creating a faux side-bangs look. Tie up the top half of your hair together into a half-up ponytail to secure it all in place.
6. ’70s Straight Hair Upgrade
We’re big fans of going back through the ages to find new hairstyles — like this almost-too-perfect take on ’70s straight hair. With a stick-straight center part and glossy pin-straight locks, what’s not to love? Tuck your hair behind your ears to really seal the deal on this retro look.
7. Straight and Twisted Half-Updo
We’re big fans of any style that can show a little contrast. This one is perfect for that subtle take on things! Starting off with straight hair gets this style going, but the twisted half updo is reminiscent of curls. To get this look, take two large two-inch sections of hair near your hairline. Separate each section into at least two, if not three (or more!) sections. Twist the sections of each side around to create the twisted, almost rope-like look. Then, pull the two sections back to the center of your head and secure in place. Cool-looking and surprisingly easy to do!
8. Chic, Low Ponytail
Low ponytails are the it style of 2017. To make this style as chic as possible, use a skinny hair tie and secure it lower than the nape of your neck. A side part also helps to give this simple style a little more edge and interest.
9. Voluminous Straight Hair
Ok, so we’re aware that not everyone wants to wear pin-straight, slicked-down hair. If you still want to get in on that sleek hair trend, you can try this voluminous look. Instead of using your flat iron to make perfectly straight hair, create a straight-ish look. By this, we mean mostly straighten your hair, but add in a subtle wave at the same time. To get more volume, you can lightly tease your hair. Spray some of the TRESemmé Tres Two Freeze Hold Hairspray throughout your hair to lock this style in place.
10. Blunt Straight Hair
We’re getting gorgeous ’60s vibes from this cool blunt cut! You can opt for a new blunt haircut, or you can try to fake it (depending on your cut) with super-straight ends. Either way, you’ll need to break out the flat iron for this style. We recommend straightening your hair, making sure you don’t create any bends. When you get an inch or two above the ends of your hair, go extra slow to ensure a perfectly straight finish.

Take that twist and wrap it into a tight bun, securing with bobby pins. The overall look is sleek and super-trendy.
